School & College PAT Testing service

Why do schools require PAT Testing?

PAT Testing is the term used to describe the process of testing portable electrical appliances within a workplace. PAT Testing should be a necessary part of Health and Safety compliance in your school. Ensuring pupils and staff are safe from electrical harm is the critical. However, that doesn't mean you need to spend a fortune every year getting it done.

We offer a no obligation free of charge site survey and risk assessment which will take approximately 15 minutes. This will enable your school to setup a planned PAT Testing programme that meets with all the current required regulations relevant to PAT Testing in schools.

How long does PAT Testing take?

Our engineers can normally PAT Test between 150-200 items a day. The period our engineers are onsite will depend on whether you already have a checking system in place. It is wrong to assume everything needs to undergo a thorough test every time. A risk assessment may reduce the annual need for testing every item.

What do schools need PAT Testing?

Electrical appliances used by staff and students need a combined visual test and inspection. Schools should carry out a review and inspection every 12 months but this can vary depending on usage.

Health and Safety compliance requires a record to be kept of testing and maintenance of each appliance. The record should state who carried out the checks and the date of inspection. For educational facilities; canteens, offices, and student equipment should be inspected.

What to expect

Our team offer a hassle-free PAT Testing service from start to finish. Call or email one of friendly staff for a instant quote. Once you are happy with the quote we will arrange a time and date to fit around you.

On the day of testing our engineers will arrive at your premise on time and ready to test. To aid our engineers we will ask for you to ensure all the items are easily accessible and their locations are identified prior to the visit.

Each item will be fully tested and identified with a test sticker, identifying if the item has failed or passed. Before leaving our engineers will ensure everything is return to its original location and all appliances are left safe.

On completion you will be emailed a certificate and a detailed report of each item. The certificate acts as proof that the person responsible has taken steps necessary to ensure safety. The detailed report will highlight the pass or fails of each item.
